Kim Hosier BSc (Hons) MSW MSc EMDR UKCP
Thank you for visiting my website. I have been working as a counsellor since 1992 and currently offer counselling, psychotherapy and supervision in Emsworth, Hampshire.
Although I didn’t know it at the time, my interest in counselling emerged in my childhood when, due to certain life events, I needed the support of psychological services. When I left college I began to train as a mental health nurse before studying for a degree as a mature student and going on to qualify as a social worker. Around this time I also began to volunteer with a local charity staffing their helplines. I enjoyed the work so much that I made the decision to move into the charity sector where, until recently, I held a management and clinical role for a number of years. I also began the long process of training as a counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor.
Training & Qualifications:
My core training is Gestalt. I have also trained in a variety of other approaches including Art Therapy, EMDR and sensorimotor psychotherapy. When we first meet we will discuss the approach that will suit you best. My intention is to support you with empathy and compassion to understand the issues that impact on you. I will not tell you what to do but will provide you with a safe and professional space where you can reflect on what is happening in your life, gain awareness and understanding and make appropriate choices and changes. My relational approach is very much a shared understanding which respects the uniqueness of each person.
