Psychotherapy, Counselling & EMDR

Psychotherapy – Psychotherapy tends to be longer-term and addresses more deep-rooted issues and patterns of relating that are associated with low self-esteem, shame or depression for example. It provides an opportunity to make sense of issues from the past that  are unresolved and are preventing  an individual from fully living in the present.

Counselling – Counselling usually takes place over a shorter period of time and often deals with a specific issue e.g. bereavement, loss of employment or the ending of a relationship.

EMDR - I am an accredited practitioner in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.  EMDR enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that may be the result of disturbing life events.  A wealth of research has been conducted demonstrating the benefits of EMDR in treating experiences as varied as; combat stress, sexual and domestic abuse, neglect, surgical and/or birth trauma and accidents. Additionally it can be used to treat phobias, anxiety, stress and low self esteem.

CPD and training - Areas I offer include; counselling survivors of sexual abuse, domestic abuse, Gestalt counselling and working with psychological trauma. Please enquire for further information or to discuss bespoke training.
